LSRL 2018

48th Linguistic Symposium on Romance Languages

Wed, 25 Apr 2018 – Sat, 28 Apr 2018

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at York University will host the 48th Linguistic Symposium on Romance Languages (LSRL 48) from April 25-28, 2018.

The theme of the conference is Points of Convergence in Romance Linguistics, which aims to capture the fact that all the major areas of linguistics (e.g. morphology, syntax, semantics, phonology, sociolinguistics, first and second language acquisition) will be represented through research on different Romance languages.

In addition to the main session, consisting of oral presentations and two poster sessions, LSRL 48 will feature a special workshop on Romance Diachrony at the Interfaces, which will focus on generative syntactic interfaces with morphology, semantics, and pragmatics in Romance historical linguistics.

Invited speakers:

Ian Roberts (University of Cambridge, UK)

Julie Auger (Indiana University, USA)

Angelica Hernandez (PhD student, University of Western Ontario, Canada)

Daniela Isac (Concordia University, Canada)

Giuseppe Longobardi (University of York, UK)

Ana Teresa Pérez-Leroux (University of Toronto, Canada)

We invite abstract submissions for LSRL 48 (both workshop and main session) for 20-minute talks (plus 10 minutes for discussion) and/or poster presentations (approx size: 3ft x 4ft or 90cm x 120cm) on any aspect of Romance Linguistics. All abstracts should be anonymous, no more than two pages in length (including examples and references), in 12-point font, 8.5×11-inch page setup (= US Letter), with 1-inch margins. Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint abstract per author, or two joint abstracts per author, and papers must be in English. We will automatically consider your submission for both the workshop and the main session.
